ipod charging question

I am going on holiday to stay at my friends and will be taking my ipod.

Will I be able to recharge my ipod battery using his machine, or not?

you will be able to charge it just fine.. you wont be able to do anything else tho.

Judging from that link however, I cannot recharge my ipod once the battery has gone because my friend has a windows machine, and I run Apple.

I would just try it.. it should work.. if it asks you if you want to wipe it or transfer or anything when you plug it in just hit no/cancel and it should still charge.
