My screen is not bright. When I go to the brightness slider and slide it all the way to the brightest setting it's very bright, but when I take my finger off the screen it dims but the slider doesn't move. I've tried all the "fixes" I've found online and nothing works. No I do not have auto brightness on.

Try turning off your iPhone and then turn it on again. If that doesn't work to setup the brightness control according to your manual settings, I would take the phone to Apple and have them look at it. Your iPhone 6 is warranted for one year.
