iphone 4S battery problem.

My wife has an iphone 4S that I bought new from apple for a present... I know, I'm so generous. The battery was discharging pretty quickly so I thought it's time for a new one. I got one from ifixit Australia and installed it. All simple enough. Wi fi is turned on and that's about it. She does use face time sometimes, but not since the new battery went in. It's still discharging too quickly. We followed the instructions that came with the battery and charged it to 100% then did the same after that first charge had dropped to less than 10%. Is there anything else I can do before getting back to ifixit?

One thing that can really eat up a lot of battery life is notifications turned on for many of the apps installed on the phone. I've personally turned off notifications for many of the apps I have installed (even the Mail app)...and since doing that my iPhone runtime on a single charge has increased dramatically.

Yes...should be in "Settings". I'm running iOS 12.4...your iPhone 4s may be running something older...but I think something similar should be there regarding "Notifications".

Just checked...I have about 40 apps installed on my iPhone (probably a lot less than many users)...and 30 out of the 40 apps I have notifications turned off (including the Mail app).

Out of the 10 apps that I have notifications turned on...most of these are travel related apps like hotel apps & airline apps (which don't send out notifications very often...unless I'm traveling).

And I noticed even out of these 10 apps...2-3 of them I should probably turn off notifications. Lol

You've got a few more than my missus. She has 7 apps, all games. I've just been through it and turned off all notifications and refresh apps. We'll see what happens now. Thanks for your help so far.

Sorry jhonbrown but I don't know what you're talking about.
Nick, I've waited a few days after turning off a load of notifications and it now seems a lot better. Or maybe the battery needed a few full charges before settling down. Thanks for your help.

I've just had an email saying there's a reply from 'sensebot.' It's not on here but the message on the email reads "4s ... that's antiquity already mate ." I don't know who it's from but they're right. Not only that, but I've got an iphone 3!! Anyway, the 4s last's a day without much use at all which is not what it used to with the original battery.
