My phone has started silencing all calls and sending them to voicemail. I have the feature to do that with unknown numbers turned on but it is doing it people in my contacts. This started after recent updates in the 18.3 series and is still happening after 18.4.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks.

Nope. I do know the setting your talking about though;

I have tried this in my home country (I'm o/seas at the moment) and it seemed to work fine but I introduced a Spam Call Blocker and now no longer use that setting. I don't suppose you have some sort of similar app running?

Last but not least do check your Ring tone is not muted. Obviously if you don't hear it ringing it will go to Voice Mail;

Note; Silent mode is OFF. Ringtone and Alerts at MAX. Change with Buttons is OFF, I do this to avoid accidentally turning down the ring tone when adjusting volume on other apps. Make sure you haven't accidentally muted the phone with the mute switch (Top Left side of the phone.)

I hope that helps.

No, I don’t have any of those other things happening. My call blockers are set to block only spam calls. I have the change with buttons turned off also. I did notice while looking at your suggestions that the ring volume was lower than it should be. I have adjusted that. I seldom mess with that one so it surprised me. Hopefully that will fix it.

Thank you.

You're welcome, do you have Haptics turned on too. If the phone vibrates on an incoming call but doesn't ring that's usually a sign that calls are muted.

You can also have the iPhone LED Flash for Alerts. Anu Notifications you have setup with Alerts, will flash the LED on the camera. In Accessibility -> Audio & Visual -> Led Flash for Alerts. I always have my ringer muted.

Also, depending on you iPhone model/year, if you press and hold the top button, above the volume buttons, on the iPhone 16 (maybe Pro), that will also mute the ringer.

As a matter of fact, I do. I will certainly keep that in mind if my phone goes silent on me again.

Thank you.

Personally I'd try turning off the "Silence Unknown Callers" setting and simply don't answer calls that don't come up as a known contact. It's just the same really and sometimes you can miss calls you later wish you'd answered.

I might do that. I know that I have switched it on and off when I know a maintenance guy is on the way. They always use their own phone and not a company one.

Yes, I have now turned it off. Will try it that way for awhile and see how it goes.

Thanks
