Edited to add--just read it was a sensor.
I have one more question--when the Apple guy did the diagnostics he did say there was one thing that came up. What is the tiny dot right above the camera lens on the iPad 2? He didn't indicate what he thought may be wrong but said that was what showed up.
Today, I did reboot it and also turned iCloud off since it was blamed for crashes.
Slydude, you can have this one if I have to get hubs another one. Maybe you could fix it. At least it has 32 GB of space,
