IOS zoom hanging

Every now and then my iPhone 6 zooms and I can't get it back. It does not respond to a 3 finger double-click. It happened again today. It would not respond to either me or my wife, but I finally got it to respond to my granddaughter. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? (I have disabled zoom in Accessibility but it doesn't seem to help)
