Interactive teaching using keynote

I wish I could have a list of expected responses from my students ready to go and that I can make each response appear after they have said it out loud, leaving behind the ones they havent yet come up with. So far as I can tell, you can only preset which will come up first and clearly you dont know what they come up with on their own. Does anyone know if what Im asking is possible in keynote or any other compatible application?
