I’m trying Brave and finding the following problem getting started:

Under Preferences/Settings/Import Bookmarks if I choose Chrome, it imports all my Chrome bookmarks just fine. However, those are out of date and disorganized as I’ve been using Safari for the last couple of years. Brave is not importing them from Safari -- it reports “Done" but the Bookmarks Bar remains blank.

Maybe I need to select “Bookmarks HTML File” but I don’t know where that is or if it exists (Spotlight doesn’t report and such file).

Any suggestions? Or is Brave not ready for prime time? (Can’t tell from that thread, where this problem is not mentioned.)

If you import bookmarks to Brave using the html option, you first have to export the bookmarks from your current browser as an html file.
All browsers will give you that option.
For Safari:
Launch Safari. Select File > Export Bookmarks. In the Save dialog window that opens, select a target location for the Safari Bookmarks. html file, and then click the Save button.

The go to Brave and import that html file you just saved.

That works. Thank you.

It does keep changing, some methods become outdated but krs's method does always work. In the past what I have done is simply keep both Safari and Brave open, go to the site I want on Safari then copy and paste the URL into Brave. I can then save it in Brave to the folder of my choice which has helped reorganise my bookmarks into a much more organised form.

Yes, it takes a bit of time but the results have been worth it and I actually have a lot less bookmarks as many of my Safari bookmarks were either redundant or never used.
