Howdy,

Note the keyword, "anymore". I have been using image capture gleefully for years on my macbook, 10.11.6 to transfer images and videos from previous iphones. I have been doing so with no problems with my iphone 8 plus... Until about a week ago. Image Capture doesn't recognize when I plug the phone in.

I read some folks restarted the phone and it worked...it did for me once or twice, but not reliably. I tried all the tricks: unplugging the phone from the MAC, quitting and restarting image capture with the phone connected, not connected, then start...power down this, power up that... AND, I have told iphotos to not open when I plug in the phone since image capture has been so reliable, and I don't know how to change that back to recognize the phone, although I really DON'T want to use that program...

Who has had this problem and have you been able to remedy? any third party apps that do the same thing?

Thanks!

What is the iOS version that your iPhone 8 is currently running?

The latest version of iOS is 12.1.1 (16C50).

I cannot make any promises, but it would surely make sense to update your iPhone 8 to the latest iOS. Then try Image Capture.

These intermittent faults are a devil to track down, but the latest iOS is the obvious first move.
