I have the IMAC Dual Core, I have had it for 2 months... Sometimes the computer seems slow and takes time to select icons etc... does anyone have any advice on how I can fix this.

I have already fixed permissions and still same..

Thanks

can you post your specs?

are you fairly new to macs?

and are you completely quitting apps, or are you just clicking the red x?

Depending on your ram amount, it could help to increase, depending on what else is running, it could help to quit some apps.

Just not enough info in your first post.

red "x" closes the window, leaving the app "running" in the background.

Yep.

How many programs do you have open? Non-Intel programs will slow things down as they have to run through an emulator which is transparent to the user.

ye the red cross hides the window but keeps the app running, as you will see a black arrow under the app in the dock, apple key+Q = quit (or click file and quit.)

There are some programs that will quit when you click the red button. Like utilities:
Calculator, Font Book, Disk Utility, etc

But most 'big' applications do not behave that way.
