I have tried to install mac os x tiger onto an iMac but the install says it is not compatible and now I cannot reboot into mac 9.1 as the installer for tiger runs from my hd. Can someone please help me reset this? (I have lost the cd for Mac 9.1 and for some reason the admin rights have locked it down to not read from the cd automatically)

Thanks

Tiger runs fine on a G3.

You need to install OS 9, update to 9.2.2, update the firmware which is available on the Apple site and then install Tiger.

Bear in mind 256Mb is a paltry amount though! Things get better with 364Mb.

Also remember that you need the retail version of Tiger - a disc that came with a MacBook for example will not work.

Ok this is exactly what i did and the error i get on a mac g3 running mac 9

I tried to boot mac osx from the dvd (however this failed as the admin rights wouldn't allow this), then i copied the dvd to my desktop and then restarted into this boot however with the incompatibility of OSX it does nothing. Now I want to be able to boot back into mac 9.1 however I am unable to find command to help me do this through open firmware 3. Anyone that can help i am more than appreciative, as i am a novice when it comes to mac os and i am trying to upgrade because i would like to get used to the system before i eventually switch over from windows on the complete release of vista.

Again anyone that can help thanks
