Hows it going everybody. My Imac mid 2011 (27 inch) has been experiencing random fan noises/lines shooting directly down the center. Today when I try power on, it goes to the routine the apple loading screen then goes to a white screen - and thats it.

I tried a PRAM / SMC reset. It will not boot past the white screen.

I purchased this used in 2019 I’m unfamiliar with the history.

Could this be the GPU? or possibly the HD / RAM?

if it is the GPU, will this replacement work ?

Welcome to our forums.

I agree that it appears your graphics card has failed. As far as a replacement for the current card, it's best to find an exact replacement. I'm not familiar with which one will work but you do have to be careful since a card that is not compatible will not work right.

Also, getting to the card to replace it is not an easy DIY job. The entire front panel glass and display will have to be removed first before you can gain access to the inner parts. I also believe the logic board (motherboard) may have to be removed to change the card.

You can look over the instructions to do the work at www.ifixit.com. They also sell the tools that are needed.

Make sure any graphics card replacement you purchase is guaranteed to work and that you can get a refund if it doesn't.
