Hmmm, how old do you think it is? Anything too old, and you would probably not be able to put anything over like a 200 meg HD :)

$25? Im wondering what you got for that price, as I'd love to get a used imac, but $ is an issue for me these days...

launch the system profiler, under the apple menu..... and let us know the details...

processor
ram
etc....

if you dont mind. ;)

That computer takes any normal IDE drive :)
But it's rather difficult to install the HD if you haven't done anything like it before...

Rev. a & b imacs are a bit of a pain to install a hard drive.

I'm assuming you have an early iMac, considering the price.

This is a link to hard drive procedure on early iMacs. Very complex. Not very apple-like at all:

http://www.theimac.com/drive_steps.shtml

iMacs got MUCH easier to upgrade once the slot-loading CDs came out.

So have a look at your machine. Tray loading CD - follow the link.

Slot loading CD? Write again.
