iMac freezing

Have a 2007 IMac which I upgraded from Snow Leopard to 10.7.5. Since then have had ongoing problem with freezings and "beach" ball spinning.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forums.

OK, so you have gone from SL to Lion. Can you tell us how much RAM you have, how much storage on your Mac HD and, most importantly, how much free space there is on the HD?

And do you have any backup such as Time Machine?

Imac freezing

I have:
4 G.B. of RAM
210 G.B. out of 250 G.B. are free
Have both Time Machine and separate Seagate backup

Booot into Recovery mode and run Repair Disk from within Disk Utility there.

Imac Freezing

I've run the disk repair,but to no avail.

What did the Disk Utility repair tell you, if anything? Freezing and the spinning beach ball are symptoms of a hard drive that's failing. Your machine is a 2007 model which means your hard drive is overdue for the graveyard.
