my imac 233 wont get beyond the blinking ? and face on folder ...

You have access to a disk utility? I'm sure I'm not familiar with the OS you're running

That means it can't find the operating system on the hard drive....You will need your system discs to see what the Disk utility says

it wont boot up from cd drive

Are you holding down C when you try to boot up to boot from the CD

yes.... it spins then it stops

Hmm.....how long are you holding down C.

I'm pretty sure you hold it down for close to 15-20 seconds

i hold down C. the cd drive spins a little then stops then the blinking ? and face on folder comes on so i think on top of that my cd drive does not work... it works sometimes and sometimes it dont

you probably will have to do a software restore, when inserting the disk, restart the computer again, hold the c buttong untill it boots off the cd, I have had this happen. If it doesnt work, then there is probably something wrong with your cd drive as well
