imac 2014 video connection to HDMI

I'm finding that the video port on my imac is not accepting any of the HDMI adapters that have worked for me in the past with my Macbooks. The fit is extremely loose. Is this a common issue? Will I have better luck with an Apple-branded adapter?

2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
It's not a common issue.

According to specs your 2014 iMac should have two video output ports (TB 2, same as mini display port). Are the connections loose on both ports? If so, then it's likely the adapter you're using.

Maybe doublecheck that you are using the proper adapter:


And use a decent Brand of adapters such as Monoprice etc.I
