Your fault description doesn't bode well for a 2011 iMac. Is it a 21.5"nor 27" iMac? Are the red lines vertical and very fine, or are the wide bars? Fine pixel wide lines are usually caused by a defective display, wide repetitive bars are more likely caused by the video card. If your iMac is a 2011 27" model, they have known issues with their video cards. Either way the iMac is likely to be uneconomical to repair due to its age.
