I am replacing the logic board in a 20" iMac A1224. It currently has no logic board, ram, or HDD. It originally had the 7,1 Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz board but it appears that the system could be upgraded to the 2.4 GHz 7,1 board. The price difference is negligible and the size/screw holes look the same but I have never done this before so I thought I'd search here first.

I didn't find this exact scenario with the search function so I'll apologize now if this has been discussed before!

Thanks, Joe

There probably hasn't been many folks doing this sort of thing (Apple just doesn't make it very easy). But if you're swapping a logic board from the same generation iMac (7,1)...then I would say that there's a strong possibility it should work!:)

Please let us know how things turn out.:):)
