When the new iMacs come out in August, what will happen to the prices comparitvley.
The recent trend in computer prices at all levels has been to go up, albeit slowly. Same thing is happening with most computer components.
ibook was 999+, now macbook is 1099+. iMacs used to be 799+, now 1099+. It's really hard to see the price creep except on bottom end models, but it is there.
Not just Apple though - I remember when the first GeForce 256 came out, I paid $299 and it was the top of the line GPU. That was the most I'd ever paid, the old 3dfx Voodoo 2/3 were under $200. Now, top of the line graphics cards are around 500-600 (the very top line one is about $800).
I would expect most new mac prices to stay the same, with some minor price creep upwards (like +$50 or +$100) on certain models - most likely the laptops.
