• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Trying to create a new iDVD project and it says "No themes installed - Quit iDVD and install iDVD again, or click "Look for Themes" and locate the themes folder."

I think this happened once before but I cannot remember what I did to solve the problem. I also don't understand why this happens periodically

Thank you

Why do you think there is a conflict between an update for iDVD (7.0.4) and the completely separate program iPhoto?

OOPS - my screwup - a senior moment. I mistakenly looked at iPhoto and actually my iDVD is at 7.1.2. If I "update" to 7.0.4 will that be the "new" version of iDVD? The reason for my concern is that a while back I downloaded a free version of Yosemite which messed up everything and it took me weeks to get that all sorted out.

Thank you for your interest

Sorry, though 7.0.4 was the latest. Here's 7.1.2:

OK I downloaded and installed the latest 7.1.2 but still get the error message when I try to open a new project

OK folks - I solved my problem, at least for now. I actually have 2 iMacs, mine and my wife's. I discovered that the themes are supposed to be housed in the hard drive > Library > Application support > iDVD but there was no iDVD in that string on my Mac. I went to my wife's Mac and found the themes there, right where they were supposed to be so I copied the iDVD folder and put it in my own Mac under hard drive > Library > Application support and now the error message does not appear when I start a new iDVD project.

The mystery is why those themes disappeared from my machine - twice now.

Thanx for everyone's help

I saw that earlier but was looking for some thought on why the themes did not get re-installed. When you did the install did you do a complete install of iDVD or an update of the existing install? If it was a complete install that should have re-installed the themes as well.

I did not do a complete reinstall as I do not have the original disks The Apple Store wiped my hard drive clean and reinstalled the programs but I got no discs (they did that for free).
