Hi all, I recently dug out my old (well, ancient) iBook after Hurricane Irene didn't take too kindly to my MacBook Pro while walking home from lecture, and I was wondering if anyone could direct me to what keyboard is compatible with this particular iBook. Several months back I ordered what I *thought* was the correct keyboard for this particular model (M6497, etc..) from the research I had done, but there was one metal groove that protruded on the lower part of keyboard that did not fit into the slotted grooves on this iBook (I saw where the indention was for the metal slat to fit into place, and I believe this keyboard's slat was too long). I believe I have adequate photos posted below to determine what keyboard I need to purchase, and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Thanks for the help! However, that keyboard looks very similar to the one I purchased that didn't fit correctly.. The longer (depth) metal slat (below the arrow keys) just didn't seem to want to fit, only allowing roughly half of it to secure into the slot, while the longer (width) metal slat on the left side of the keyboard fit fine. :\ I'm not sure if something is off internally or if the casing was screwed on too tight or what but I've posted below what the openings look like on my iBook (hopefully that helps!)

Hmm, everything on your iBook appears to be normal. It is possible that you purchased a G3 iBook clamshell Keyboard. It looks almost identical to the iBook G3 "Snow" that you have. Or it's possible that you have the right keyboard, but it just doesn't want to go in. Do you still have the keyboard? Could you try installing it again?

Unfortunately I do not, I purchased it off eBay and the seller refunded me due to it not being compatible. Wish I could still see the auction info so I could verify whether or not it was the right keyboard or not.. Oh well, 14.99 isn't too much to shell out for the keyboard you suggested. Thanks for your help and hope it works! :)

Both of those keyboards seem to be the correct one for your iBook. I'm beginning to suspect the laptop itself might have a problem with the keyboards not fitting correctly. When you get it, hopefully it will work. :)
