I HAVE NO NAME!--say what?

Trying to go into single user mode yields this statement at the prompt: ":/I have no name! #"
In addition are these two statements:
If you want to make modifications to files
/sbin/fsck-fy
/sbin/mount-uw/
single user mode status 127
Macbook Lion 7.5 4GB ram
I have never encountered this before, can anyone help me?

What, specifically, is the problem?

The first message is telling you that your volume does not have a name. This suggests it needs to be reformatted.

The /sbin/fsck -fy (note the space there) is a system check. What does it say when you run it?
