I forgot to mention that the the current iOS for your iPhone is 14.2. I suggest that you update your iPhone 11 to iOS 14.2.
If you can't do this via iTunes because of the problems you have, do it via WiFi. Make sure that you are in a strong WiFi environment in your home, have the iPhone on charge, Open Settings > General > Software Update and proceed from there.
Once you have done that, try connecting to your iMac/iTunes again - having previously rebooted the iMac.
