Just FYI, I searched like crazy.

It appears I deleted a portion of my movie folder. I inadvertantly dragged the movie folder from the sidebar in the finder window and deleted it. I have a habit of deleting and then emptying the trash. Luckily I was doing a video conversion and the emptying of the trash stopped. I then looked in the sidebar and noticed my movie folder was gone. I found the remnants of the folder and there are about 5 items left. I realize I'm probably out of luck finding my lost movies (I can't wait until time machine!), but is there anyone that can tell me how to get my movies folder icon back to normal and maybe someone has a secret on how to get my stuff back.

Thanks for your time.

Just dragging the window off the sidebar doesn't delete the folder since that is only an alias to the actual folder.

What do you mean by remnants? The actual folder or something else?

As for putting the Movies alias back into the sidebar, just go to where the actual folder is and then drag it over to the Sidebar.

I must not have explained very well. I delete all of the contents of the folder except for a few items which were not deleted, because an error message popped up after I chose to empty the trash. I chose to stop emptying the trash and found the remnants of the movies folder on my desktop. All that was left were 5 videos. I did try to just drag it back to the sidebar, but the movie folder icon is just a folder now. It's not the original icon. Hopefully that helped.

Well...my love for macs grows greater and greater everyday. My folder icon fixed itself after a restart. All my files are still gone, but it's not a big deal.
