I accidentally put the applications icon(in the finder) in the trash...

...and I can still get them by going to go > applications, but how do I put it back to earlier, where Applications was under iDisk, Network, Desktop, Home, etc.?

Can't you just drag it back from trash to the correct folder?

Open a finder window, click on your hard drive at the top. Drag the Applications icon from the right hand bit (the files bit) into the left side where you want it to go. This will recreate the link and let you position it.
