Is anybody aware of drivers for a HP Laserjet 1020 that will work on a Mac either with OSX 10.9.5 or with Snow Leopard?

Here's a discussion on HP's forums about using that printer on Mavericks. It's not officially supported, but they have a workaround.

Below is the relevant solution quoted from that page:

Officially, the HP Laserjet 1020 is not supported on Mac OS X:

This Product Is Not Supported in Any Macintosh Environment | HP® Support...

Although it is not supported, there are some workaround you may try:

1. Download and install the package below:
   HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
2. From System Preferences, click on Print & Scan.
3. Click the Plus sign.
4. Select the listed LJ 1020 printer.
5. Click the drop down menu next to Use or Print Using and click on Select Printer Software.
6. Select the HP Laserjet 1022 from the list.
7. Click OK to confirm your selection and add the printer, then try printing using the configured print queue.
