A 9 to 5 job is what I'm sticking to. I'm just curious after reading how some YouTubers are paid in the millions. Of course they are very talented and involves a lot of hard work. It's not for everyone. Through this admiring of the top earners- I wanted to know about the average joe in comparison also. So for you, $11 in 3 months. How many views did you get?
How you get paid depends on how popular your channel is. This is not just in views but also in watch time. So say you make 5min videos but everyone only watches 1min of each video, then youtube thinks your videos likely suck and will rank your over all channel lower, thus getting paid less per view or per add click. Now if they watch 4mins or longer per video, youtube will start to rank you channel higher and also pay you more per view/add click.
So if your channel is new like mine and struggling to get 50 views a day, you make fractions of a penny, or about 3 to 4 dollars a month. I also put out 2 to 3 videos a week.
How ever over time your channel will start to also rank higher depending on its age and will eventually pick up speed. I have friends who after about 3 years are getting about a thousand views per day, sometimes less, sometimes more. They make about $250 to $400 per month.
Also the economy and your type of channel genre plays a large part of your profit. This is because ads are user base targeted. So if you watch gaming channels you will get more adds from those who sell games, etc.. Now I watch photography stuff a lot and I get targeted with ads from photography related stuff. My channel is also photography related, so it often promotes more photography related stuff (most of the time) thus, I fall victim to what the photography market is paying. This can get very complex on how CPC and auctioning work. For those advertising. I am not going to get into that, basically sometimes I dont feel I fully understand wth is going on. But hope this helps.
