I have a few video clips that are taken with a smartphone
The video format is .mov and the format is portrait.
I want to convert this to an .mp4 file, but it seems every converter I use ends up swithing the resulting .mp4 video into landscape format.
I tried Evon and Handbrake - same problem.
Also tried converting the final .mp4 video from landscape back to portrait without any success.
Any suggestions?
Currently running Mojave on a 2012 Mini.

Have you looked at the settings in Handbrake? I just tried it on my Big Sur Mini using Handbrake and it didn't rotate my movie. (,MOV)

Settings in Handbrake are the default ones.
I just went through Handbrake preferences and settings in the Handbrake window -I see nothing that allows one to control the orientation of the video.
Is your original test .mov file in "portrait"?

Solved my problem.
Turned out I had an older version of Handbrake that didn't have many of the options the updated one has, like being able to rotate the video.
Downloaded the update and it onverted to an .mp4 file keeping the portrait format.
Thanks for your reply Bob, got me to check first the options and then the version.
