I look on Craigslist often but can only seem to find the older models. I will look on Ebay. Thanks!

I don't think they made the 24inch but for a couple years.. Hopefully they make a thunderbolt 24 sometime. The last refurbished price apple had on them was 599.99 so I wouldn't pay more than that. Most seam to be ending around 500ish on eBay.

I have been talking to someone who is willing to give me their iMac 2011 21.5" for my 32gb Wifi iPad 2 plus $500. It sounds small to me being the 21.5" so I'm kind of skeptical. Should I jump on the deal or wait?

Is that someone you know well, and will you be able to put hands on it before handing over your iPad and money? If the answer to one or the other is "no", I'd skip it.

He's trustworthy and yes I will be able to check out the iMac before any transaction is done. Is this really a "deal" on my part?

That iMac is $1200 new. So, you're giving him a $600 iPad and $500.

It's not really a deal, more like a "break even" for both of you.

Well I just got home with my new iMac! I have a few questions.. He had a few programs that I would like to keep but I want to put on a fresh install of Lion. How can I save the programs to put on later?

If the discs and associated licensing information didn't come with it, those applications don't belong to you. We won't help with software piracy on this forum.

He said he had lost the discs but that I could keep the programs. Obviously doing a fresh install I would lose them.

That's correct.

When you buy a piece of software, you don't own the actual software to do with as you please. You own a license to use that software. If you weren't given the license (i.e. the discs and associated keys), then you don't own the license, and essentially don't have the right to use the software - whether the vestiges of it are present on the machine or not.

So, again, not something we can help you with here.

What cord would I need to hook up my MBP to my iMac? Link?

You'd use a Thunderbolt cord, or miniDisplayPort cord.

PS. Your friend had no right to say you could keep the programs -- since they're not his -- and he's being a bit of a, um, unsavory fellow by making you think the programs were part of the deal when they weren't. If you can, I'd demand possession of the original disks, or get your iPad and money back and return the iPad to him. The iMac is obviously less valuable to you if the programs weren't included.

Would you happen to have a link of where I could get a Mini Display port? I can't seem to find one, only adapters to dvi. Also, I didn't need the programs. They were just a plus I suppose. Either way, I did a fresh OSX install. I have the original operating discs, and got to keep iLife so I'm happy..
