How to get rid of this icon

While exploring my Macbook I accidentally put a copy of an icon named "untitled" that looks like a hard drive. When I click on it it opens Finder. I have tried everything to get this icon off desktop to no avail. Can anyone help? The first pic is of the icon; second pic is what opens when I click on it.

That "untitled" seems to be your MacBooks hard drive volume and you may want to rename it as "MacBook HD" or at least something more meaningful than "untitled"!!!

I haven't got a hard drive icon on my desktop and I would like to have one there.

Do exactly the same thing mentioned in the post bobtomay made above (post #2)…except now "check" the box that says "hard disks".

How easy can it be??…the instructions are already in the thread.

But, but… gee… those directions only showed how to hide the icon.

Hey cowbrain please don't take my post the wrong way…not trying to give you a hard time. The process is exactly as bobtomay described in post #2…you just need to "check" the box marked "hard disks".

Hmmm…??? A bit of a strange handle name to have for this area, and I don't suppose your spouse or partner goes by the name of "HeadCheese"???
