the current version of itunes is 12.1.0.50

you can check if you are running this version by clicking on itunes in the menu bar and then clickng about iTunes. a window will open showing what version you are using.

if it's not the most up to date one you can update from the same menu

i i have been using my itunes to download update for both iphone and ipods, and i now want to view where all the update have been saved on my itunes, if i want to update again there will be no need to download an update again but will update it directly from the previous update

John - I'm not sure that you completely understand iTunes, plus you need to provide the information asked by Slydude about your computer setup & OS (at least, do you have a Windows or Apple computer?).

Your concerns involve three issues: 1) iTunes itself needs to be updated periodically, regardless of how you are using the program; 2) iDevices also need to be updated - these run on iOS (not OS X or Windows); choices are an OTA (over the air) wireless option or cabled to your computer using iTunes; and 3) Backing up the iDevices - this can be done to iCloud or to your computer w/ wireless or cabled options. Your iDevices can be restored w/ these backups or used to setup a new iDevice.

If your iDevices need an iOS update, then using the 'old' ones stored on your computer is not a choice - the above are your only options. Dave

It doesn't work that way for iOS updates. When you attach your mobile device to iTunes and run an iOS update for your iPhone or iPad, the update is applied directly to your device and is not saved by iTunes. However, iOS application updates are saved on your computer by iTunes and can be applied again to your iPhone or iPad.

Therefore, you need to tell us which updates you're referring to?
