How to delete old item from launchpad with no shaking X

Launchpad showed 2 versions of Reunion geneology software. Versions 12 and 13. The older one did not display under applications.
Found the answer on line
Click on Finder
Click on Applications
Click on Search Bar
entered 12 on search bar
Dragged item to Trash
Item no longer showed in Launchpad

Would only use this method If I wished to remove the application.
