I hope I'm using the right terminology.
When I go to websites, I don't want some of them to know my IP address, i.e. I am interested in renting an apartment, and sent request to realtor's website and was freaked out when realtor's website had my IP address (it was included in email reply).
I understand there are several free proxy webservers, but they either have limited functionality, or they have a ton of ads.
Are there alternate ways to hide one's IP address? Below is my impression
- somehow, create a program for Mac OS that makes Safari use some proxy.pac (this seems really challenging)
- create a boot usb that loads Mac OS (i already created boot usb for ubuntu to use on a Dell machine - had to use a friend's Windows XP)
- configure home wireless network to use NAT (I've heard of this, never tried it)
What do you think?
