You must be using an old version of OnyX Patrick because the latest versions that I can remember do not have that as a default option.

I cannot do much about it Charlie, unless I go my mucking about in Onyx's preferences and settings which I am rather hesitant to do:

OS X 10.9 Mavericks: OnyX version 2.8.9
OnyX versions are specific to each version of macOS and are not backward compatible. The program will not work correctly if used with an OS for which it was not designed.

I might take a look at its settings the next time I might have a reason to use it. There might be something obvious to change.

Patrick, have you tried the Maintenance app, Titanium Software | Operating system utilities for Mac - Maintenance. It’s just a simple version of Onyx.
