Thought I would post this article as a nice info piece for our members. Surprisingly, there are many hidden features which can be accessed in macOS by holding down your Option key at the same time. The following guide from MacRumors is worthwhile keeping or bookmark it.

That"s a great link, I've saved it for future reference Charlie. In the same vein I wonder if everybody knows about the Application Switcher.

I use this a lot, a. to check whats actually running and b. to quit apps that I no longer need to be running but as you can see it does a few other things as well.
If for example you are using multiple desktops you may easily move to the desktop where the app you want to use is displayed by selecting it rather than using Mission Control to view all desktops.

Thank you Charlie. A very useful article.

Even within apps like Photos, the Option key brings up other options - hence the name of the key, I suppose.

Good article! :)
Wish there was a "Close Tabs to the Right" option. MS's browser has the edge on that one! ;)

Thanks Charlie for the link above - I often press 'Option' when opening menu items just to see what else pops up?

Another nice Option combination is w/ the Wi-Fi icon - opens a sub-listing of a lot of data on your network as shown below (blanked out my SSID) - the circled items are most useful to me, i.e. RSSI (Relative Signal Strength Indicator), Noise, & Transmission Rate - my RSSI is not great (in the den on my laptop 2 rooms away from the router); SNR = RSSI - Noise, or just 15 dB in my case; next to the router, my RSSI drops into the -40s range markedly improving the SNR - for those interested, some more information HERE - Dave :)
