Hi everyone i have a mac pro 1.1 and i think the logic board has gone on it. Because when i start it up it comes on the led power light comes on but their is nothing on the screen its just blank and the fans are full throttle (really loud). I t was working okay before but i think i short circuited the motherboard/logic board when i put a ATA hard drive in the mac.

so where can i get it checked from to see what is wrong with the mac pro, will apple charge me to check what is wrong with it ? thanks.

Malik.

An ATA hard drive? Ohh dear. Have you tried an SMC reset? Turn off the machine and unplug from the mains power and leave it for a few minutes and try again. Try also zapping the PRAM by booting and if you get the chime, your post does not say, hold down the Command, Option P and R keys all together and keep held down until the third chime. Have you put in new memory at all lately, and also consider the graphics card. Remove it, clean it up, reseat and perhaps boot with the door off to see if the fan starts up.

I don't get a chime aswell no chime :(, do you think it will be a logic board failure ? I'm 17 and Im not that good with this kind of stuff :(, I have put in new memory but I don't think its because of that, even if it was the memory their should be something on the display. But the display is totally blank. Thanks very much for your help :)
