Actually I don't need to sleep on it. I can't do anything like that. Machine starts up and deposits me onto one screen with no options.

You are using an upgrade or system restore disc as dtravis said, sorry missed his post, which no doubt is a grey color? These discs came with specific models f.o.c. and will work ONLY with that model.

Need a full retail install DVD which is a black color. Do a Google or look at sites such as eBay for second hand discs.

You are using an upgrade disc. Make sure your install discs are black colored, known as retail install discs. They grey discs are restore discs for a specific model OBNLY and will install on that model only.

Your G4 will run Tiger well once it is installed.
