I have a MBP running Lion. I have had the laptop around 18 months and it is starting to run slower than I would like, so I am wanting to do a clean install of OS Lion. I have a 3tb hard drive that I have all my documents, movies, music, and pictures copied to. The only problem I am having is iWork. I purchased iWork in 2011 using a serial number. And now since Apple has got rid of the free trial versions that I used then typed in my serial number, I can't figure out a way to get iWork back yet. I haven't did a clean install yet, so it is all still on my computer. I know that I can Time Machine and create a backup, but what is the purpose of doing a clean install if I am just going to set my MB right back up that was it was before. Is there a way I can do a clean install and still be able to keep my iWork applications?

You might want to contact Apple and tell them you have a serial number for iWork applications and since they are available as individual downloads now, they might give you a code to the Mac App Store that you can redeem or something.

Is there an Apple Store nearby your home? If there is, bring your serial number with you and ask them to download a copy for you. Or, if it's still in stock, they may give you a copy.

Other than your iWork difficulty, do you use the best cleaning utility for Macs Onyx? Are you using any antivirus software at all? Usually it is not necessary to re-isntall lion.

The nearest one is 2 hrs away. I have an iMac and I've tried using Migration Assistant, but can't get it to work. The iMac is running Snow Leopard. I dont think MA can work going from 10.7 to 10.6
