I am wanting to trade off my PowerBook and make the jump to intel with a macbook. But I'm worried I shouldn't bother with a CD, and just hold out until I can find a C2D.

I have a 12", 1.5ghz, 512mb ram, superdrive, etc. (it's the latest revision). I could trade for a macbook core duo, with little trouble. Is this worth doing? Or with Leopard coming and the 64bit coming into play, should I wait for a Core 2 Duo?

Or, should I just hold onto my P-Book?

Ask yourself if you need a new computer. If you dont, then I'd just wait.

Yeah, that's true. I don't need one, but I do realize my computer won't be worth trading after some new products come out, which will happen soon.

I'm confused by what you mean by "trade." A 12" PowerBook is worth, generally speaking, a few hundred dollars less than a MacBook. Do you really know someone who will swap a MacBook for your PowerBook?

Or are you planning to sell it and put the money towards a new MacBook?

I guess my thinking is that a MacBook CD is going to be worth more after Leopard comes out than my PowerBook G4 will. Especially if there is a new ultra portable released. I would use the MacBook until Leopard slash new laptops are released, and then sell. Good plan? Or lame?

this doesn't make sense to me. so what your saying is you can trade your powerbook straight up for a MBP CD and then your going to sell that when leopard comes out?

if you start doing this your going to get caught in what i like to call "the techno treadmill" your never going to be able to keep up with the best of the best. If you have really good reasoning for wanting a CD (say windows use, or you just need that extra bit of power for your next editing gig) then make the trade. but dont just do it because you want the top class machine your powerbook will last you probably another year before its fully out of date and even then you could still use it.
