I have owned a PC my whole life. Probably spend $3,000 on PC's with getting them, and them being repaired alone. I have never owned a iMac, but thinking about buying one because I am sick of PC's because they break down so fast and easy. I use windows because so many people ask.

It will be worth it to spend $2,000 for a iMac, that will do everything I want to do, ( which can be better then what a PC can do which is video editing, and photoshop). So I heard. If I were to have the iMac for a longer time then what I had a PC for. I have not owned a PC for more then 2 years with no problems. Either it breaks down and I have to fix it, gets 9,000 viruses.

Sense I never owned a iMac, I do not know how easy they break. If you are an iMac owner, let me know if you ever had any problems with it. I have heard that they do not get as many viruses, they are a lot more user friendly.

I came here off of Yahoo Answers, to get tho other side of the story. Everyone there says the same thing.

They are over priced.
They do everything a PC does.
Same hardware.

That is all I got while I was there.

So this is what I am going to be doing with this iMac. Video editing, Photoshop, and other software that I get interested into.

You've asked a lot of questions. Basically it sounds like you:

- have little or no experience with Macintosh computers
- little or no experience with the Mac OS

If you don't have much experience with Macintosh computers & the Mac OS...you really cannot make an expensive decision like this.

As far as what others say (Windows users about Mac's). If Macintosh computers were everything these folks are saying...then why do we own Macintosh computers...and keep buying new ones. Are we just "silly-stupid" or something...or is there something about Macintosh computers that keeps us loyal???:) It's about the experience.:):)

I think that you need to get more informed about Macintosh computers & the Mac OS. I would suggest going to an Apple Store...and "play" around with some of the computers...or if you have access to Macintosh computers (work, friends, family, coworkers, etc.)...try one of them out.

We really cannot tell you anything that you wouldn't be better off experiencing for yourself. Do you want to read a book about Skydiving...or actually experience Skydiving for yourself by actually doing it!!!;) Thus...get your hands on one...and try a Mac out for yourself!:)

I like what you said. But I have been using Macs at school because I am taking a photoshop lesson. So I have somewhat an experience using Macs. And from what I use at school, I really like them. Nothing ever goes wrong with them.

Hey...sounds like you have some great experience using Mac's (should have mentioned that above...you could have saved me a lot of typing)! Ha ha!;)

Since you have all this great experience...Why all the questions?...Why all the doubts?...Why all the concerns what "Windows users" say about Mac's???

Let your own positive experiences with Mac's drive your decision to buy a Mac. If you're concerned about the money (who isn't) consider these options:

- buy a 1-2 year-old used Mac (e-Bay or Craig's List)
- buy a refurbished computer from Apple (generally saves you a couple to a few hundred bucks vs. new)
- buy a Mac-Mini instead of an iMac. (Mac-Mini's start at $599) Need to add your own monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

HTH,:)
