Is there any way of checking to see what RPM your hard drive is running at? I was just wondering since I ordered my new Powerbook with an upgraded HD at 5400 rpm. i just want to make sure that I wasn't ripped off

You can get the HD manufacturer, model identification and sometimes the serial number from a utility like System Profiler or TechTool. From that info you should be able to get the manufacturer's specifications for that model.

ok this is what i do, go to "About This Mac" > "More Info.." > (click on) "ATA"
look for the model name, for example, mine is "MAXTOR 6E040L0". Then search online for the detail spec. I just use google and type in the exact model name and i get my answer.
