I've dropped my MBP a few times...

Fallen asleep with the computer on my stomach and when I rolled over, there it fell to the floor. Woke me up, and I checked it... works fine. Luckily it was on carpet (although not new or plushy). =)

Haha I've done that so many times. Fall asleep in bed with my MacBook, and then wake up to find its on the floor, still open, but usually on its side. Once it's been open but upside down.

I need to be much more careful.

I haven't personally dropped one, but have seen people drop them. During yearbook my teachers macbook pro was hooked up to a charger, some student from some other class came to ask a question and tripped on the cord. The macbook fell on a corner and caused cosmetic damage but nothing serious. Then another time a student was walking with an ibook, she tripped on something and fell forward with the laptop, everything was fine, but it did cause a big scare in everyone.

Also i forgot to mention that the macbooks have a har drive accelerometer, so it can actually feel if it is falling so it braces your hard drive.

Well, i dont have a macbook, or a mbp :(. But I have some PBG3s and a Clamshell, haven't really dropped them though. Yesterday i put the clamshell in my backpackanda it was on my back and I turned around and the backpack hit a door. Not hard though, but I did get a horrible feeling.

If i had a laptop that was actually worth more than like $50 im sure I would take great care of it. I would much rather have a MB or MBP get stolen or something than to have dropped it and have it die like that, then you would have to live with the guilt and the horrible feeling of self blame. It's like accidently backing over your cat :( How much are MacBooks going for used these days anyway?

My X gf sat on my macbook while it was on the passenger seat of the car. shes not too big so thank god nothing happened to it. i was freaking out because it was about 5 days old! looking at it now the battery doesn't totally line up with the body where it runs along the bottom left of the keyboard, but its very unnoticeable, it took me till now to see that and I checked it many times between then and now.

Moral of the story: Don't put your black macbook on the passenger seat of a car with black leather interior when its dark out. :D

Ah,
I had my macbook in a backpack, unbenownst to me the zipper on it was kind of messed up, so the macbook slid out and landed on the concrete. :Shouting:

Thankfully, it only sustained a few aesthetic scratches on the underside and two of the corners, but they are minor and it could have been so so so much worse! :D

But ever since then, im ALOT more careful now.
