Yesterday on the bus on the way to school, I got my Macbook out to show my friend something. I had it on my lap, closed, because I didn't open it yet, and I reached over beside me to grab something in my bookbag when the Macbook slipped out of my lap and fell onto the floor. It wasn't a long fall, but when it fell, I had a terrible feeling that something bad happened. Quickly I opened it up and it worked fine like nothing happened. I now know to be more careful than ever. I can now see a tiny hairline crack on the top left of my screen when the computer is on. It's only cosmetic so I'm not too concerned about it, but has anyone here had the same thing happen?

my wife dropped her 15" hp pavillion notebook. the whole front left corner of the bottom case is cracked and some parts of it are simply gone.

still works fine, it's just uglier than ever.

The wife dropped mine and busted the screen. Got a new screen from Ebay for $160, followed the instructions and all good. I dropped it a few times onto carpet since with no problems. These MB are not as tough as Thinkpads, but they don't have Windows. I'm hoping the MBA (MacBook Air :) are tough.

Yep, dropped, smacked about, headbutted once or twice.
Still in good shape and working great, i use a padded kind of foamy case.

Nope, I baby all of my electronics. This girl in my school was walking about just out of its case, she dropped it on tiled floor... it shattered. Everyone was just looking in awe. She just shrugged like it was nothing... Daddy's money I suppose. :|

I've been carrying it and bumped it into a door.

Not hard enough to do anything, but I felt like an idiot.

I made a horrible mistake once.

I was walking out of the house, and realised I'd forgotten my phone. I threw my bag on to the floor and went inside and then realised... OH MY LAPTOP IS IN THERE!

I opened up the bag, and this is what I found...

It still works fine, but obviously, I was gutted! :(

My iBook dropped out of my rucksack onto a concrete pavement once (in a neoprene case though..) and was fine.

I haven't really ever dropped the Macbook, but it gets thumped around in my rucksack a lot and is still fine.

My wife dropped her G3 iBook and it became poorly a few days later - kept going to sleep and not wanting to wake up...

But never dropped my MacBook!

I cannot possibly imagine even in my worst nightmare I would so carelessly drop my Mac, but just in case, I think I'll wrap my MB in feather just for peace of mind.

But nice to hear people who drop it didn't suffer any major problem. :)

I haven't even got mine yet but from what I've read it seems really easy to damage cosmetically :s

Hi by the way, I'm new :)

My mb once fell out of one of the overhead bins on an aeroplane, and works just fine (It landed right on the corner of it)

I've never dropped mine but my cat walked on it a few times while the lid was closed. Thank god, all I've got is a few minor scratches.

All of my electronics are babied. So luckily, I haven't ever dropped my MacBook and hopefully it stays that way.

Haven't dropped it. Hopefully I never do.
I was at a friend's place once, she was getting something off of a shelf and somehow a metal bookend came flying off the shelf and put a nasty dent in it :Grimmace: That dent still bothers me every time I see it :(

I've dropped my MBP a few times...

Fallen asleep with the computer on my stomach and when I rolled over, there it fell to the floor. Woke me up, and I checked it... works fine. Luckily it was on carpet (although not new or plushy). =)
