Just unboxed a new Macbook air bought from apple store. When setting it up get the messageThere was a problem creating your new Apple ID. This Mac has been used to create too many new Apple Ids. Does this mean that my 'new' Mac is not in fact new?

I don't know but I would assume it would be new if you bought it as such from a reputable Apple dealer.

Have a look through some of these hits and maybe even the Apple support document:

And welcome to mac-forums.com 😏

If you have serious concerns that it might not be brand new...or just aren't comfortable with what happened...you have 14 days to return it.:)

Could also visit an Apple Store (if you are near one)...and have them look at things.

It could also mean that you have more than one Apple ID currently in use. If the MacBook Air was purchased from a genuine Apple Store, then it must be assumed it is new and not a returned item.

As Nick advised above, it's best to let Apple sort it out for you at the store where you purchased it. Take it back.

You might want to also check out the Console logs and see if anything has shown up there:

Just out of curiosity, do you already have an Apple ID?

The OP has not gotten back to us so any replies at this point in time is pretty much falling on deaf ears.

His problem very likely is as I stated above - he has more than one Apple ID. He needs to sort all that out with Apple.
