Hard-drive help PLEASE!!!!

hiya,

i own a maxtor one touch ii external hard drive.

a few nights ago it stopped working - it all lights up and powers up still, but no longer shows up as being recognised by my my mac!

anyone have any tips on how to sort this myself rather than pay loads of money to get it sorted?

i'm using a powerbook g4 and have had both the mac and the hard-drive for about three and a half years.

Have you opened Disk Utility to see if it is being recognized at all?

Have you tried connecting it to a different machine?

Try using it with a different machine...and yes, like cwa said, play around with Disk Utility.

I have heard of this happening before though, but I'm not too familiar with Maxtor
