hard drive goes 'clunk' !!

my imac 10GB hard drive goes clunk on start up. i no longer can boot the system. i guess the hard drive is broken. any way of repairing it?

Can you boot up with a the restore CD or software install CD??
Do you hear a chime upon start up? What happens after you power up?? What do you see on your screen?
