When I try to update Google Chrome I get: Update Failed (error 12). I tried the suggested solutions from Google and none of them worked. Is this a problem Yosemite?

This was posted in Google Groups, I cannot contest to its reliability but you are certainly not alone in this problem. You might want to run AdWare Medic first to ensure you don't have other issues because Error 12 is a connection to server failure. This is what was written:

"Chrome with "Update server not available error :12 " can be fixed by installing a dmg release by google chrome team, its called google updater, a 4 KB installer from http://dl.google.com/dl/mac/install/googlesoftwareupdate.dmg
After installation restart browser and update it
This is the only stable Fix and it works"

So I would perform a backup first as with all such procedures just in case.
If you would just rather delete the app and download a new current version get AppTrap before trashing it that will ensure all associated files are removed.

Thank you Rod. I installed AppTrap, trashed my Chrome app and downloaded an updated Google Chrome app. It worked perfectly.
