good freeware for ipod rip with ratings/playcount/playlists?

Hello,
I just dropped my ipod off my second story. it busted apart but luckily still works and i can get the music off...that's the important part.
I have used Senuti in the past and it seems to work fine but I cannot get it to copy over the playcount and ratings. I have spent a lot of time organizing my 6,000+ songs and rating them.
It says that Senuti should copy that info over but even when I click to copy that metadata over, it will not translate the ratings/playcount.
Is there any other good freeware which will do this either for mac or for PC?
Or maybe a trial period software which will allow this. I only need to do this once hopefully (but trial period software seems to only offer partial versions and you cannot get all the info without purchasing.

Doesn't iTunes do that when you sync?

not as far as I know....I am pretty sure that if I put I tunes in sync mode that it will sync the ipod to the itunes library...which is nothing. All music is on ipod...thus I think it would essentially erase my ipod.

Oh right, sorry, mine updates the play counts etc when I plug in to charge and sync, but my music is in my Library as well.

Have you been able to find a software that can rip ratings off an iPod yet?
I've looked everywhere but can't find anything either.
