Good, Free Photo Stitcher App?

I had a very basic photo stitching app that I had used on Windows about five years ago. Very basic and rudimentary, but it was free and it worked reasonably well.

Anything out there for the Mac that is Free and does a decent job on its own understand connection points and link the photos together?

I have not use either of the two listed below as I have Photoshop and used it the few times I have needed to put pictures together.

I tried Hugin and it performed poorly. Very poorly.

I will have to go back to the old Windows PC and see if i can find the app I used there then look to see if there's a Mac counterpart. I remember being really impressed at how well the little util worked with zero input from me other than to point it to the files.
