Golden yellow solid lines around text

Many time if I am posting something on a news story, I get solid yellow lines around my text and most times it stops filling in what I type. I have to go back and try typing again then it happens again and sometimes I just give up on posting my brilliant insight to all the world's problems.
I'm wondering if this has to do with the fact that so many posts have been done on this one topic or news item that this is a way of letting me know enough already or is rhere some kind of malware may be infecting my computer.? Never had this problem under High Sierra and my old iMac.
And what's a good program(s) to check for malware on my M3 iMac?
I must add that this iMac is extremely slow and I have tried all the thing to check for a slow computer without success. I am think taking it to an Apple repair store to try and speed this up as I am very frustrated with this M3. Also I often have to restart because the programs load super slowly or not at all if I ended in Sleep mode previously. Need to Log out every time to prevent that.

Could you provide a few more details such as your Mac model, the OS version and the application you are using when this problem happens?

Did the problem just recently start happening?

Have you shot down and Rebooted recently and does the problem keep happening not to wear reboot?

I have a 21" M3 iMac running Sequoia Did maintenance and went back to default. No more solid yellow lines, but the inability to post I'm sure has to do when a post has over 1.8K replies to a news story. Happened again today . I'm using Safari and on My.Yahoo and viewing news stories.
Jake: I know Apple has it's own protections built in, but something happened a week or two past where I hit on a story and I got this warning that my computer was infected (which I know was probably bogus ) but off to the right it looked like something was being downloaded (or uploaded) and I could not get out of the program. Finally had to unplug the computer. Later it happened again but this time I could escape using the back arrow. If it happens again I'll try and take a pic with my phone. This has got me concerned that something slipped into my computer. Is there a diagnostic tool within maintenance that can check for that or does everything run in background?

I think I would be tempted to delete all Cookies and History. This will not remove Bookmarks but will get rid of data that might be loading along with websites you have browsed.
What web browser are you using, are you in the habit of clicking on links in news sites. This can be a real minefield even with a reliable big name site like CNN because they're such targets for spyware, trackers and more.
That's why I use Brave browser.

For example in Brave I searched for CNN News. I opened the page and this is the report I get from Brave Shields;

34 Trackers and ads blocked!!! Sure lots will just be statistics/survey tools and ads for who knows what but I wouldn't click on any of them even if they weren't blocked.

It's a scam and just a browser hijack. I've seen a few, mostly triggered by clicking on something, even at a reputable site. Sites sell advertising space and some unscrupulous folks buy that advertising space to put something that looks like a legitimate link, but which then leads to the scammer's site that has these dire warnings and false flags. Ignore it, nothing can go on in the background of your Mac unless you authorize it. It's not Windows.

Rod - I generally always use Safari since I have many sites bookmarked. Not sure if I could transfer my bookmarked sites over to Brave.
Jake - Did not realize scammers buy advertising space. Anyway back arrow worked to get out of it now.

Successfully imported my Safari bookmarks to Brave. Biggest problem was to convert the files to an html file. Finally thru trial and error...many errors...I got it done. Then it was easy for Brave to import it.

Don't want you thereBiggest problem was to convert the files to an html file.

I really do not know why most standard browsers cannot use a standard format bookmark, after all has basically just text. What's so hard about transferring a text file if they were all to use the same formatting method. Maybe one day soon they'll come up with a "new and improved standard" and hopefully not create an additional problem while doing so.

Can you take a screenshot of these yellow lines and post it here? That might help in diagnosing what is going on.

I don't know what your particular situation is or what versions or extensions you might be using but here are some things for you to check out that sounds like the similar thing you are getting:

I was just thinking, as you already suggested, to check if any particular macOS Accessibility feature had been enabled and was causing the problem, because it's not third party the problem would probably still occur even during operating during a Safe Boot Mode, as I believe it only disables third party extensions.

I don't think there is such a utility as conflict catcher that was available for earlier Mac system versions, even if it wasn't perfect, but I would think a similar tool could be quite useful to help discover on behaviors with recent macOS versions.
